The S&P 500 Index is a broad-based, unmanaged measurement of changes in stock market conditions based on the average of 500 widely held common stocks. Balanced Benchmark is a combined index of which 40% reflects the S&P 500 Index (an unmanaged index of large companies with dividends reinvested) and 60% reflects the Bloomberg/ EFFAS U.S. Government 1-3 year Total Return Bond Index (transparent benchmark for the total return of the 1-3 year U.S. Government bond market). It is not possible to invest directly in an index.
