John Montgomery started Bridgeway Capital Management, Inc.™ and manages ten Bridgeway Funds. He holds a BA in Engineering and Philosophy from Swarthmore College and graduate degrees from MIT and Harvard Business School. He worked with computer modeling and quantitative methods as a research engineer at MIT in the late 1970s. Later, as a student at Harvard, he investigated methods to apply modeling to portfolio management. John began applying these methods to his own investments in 1985. Over the next six years, this investment style proved more successful than even John had expected. He left his full-time position in the transportation industry at the end of 1991 to perform full-time research on his investment models, study the mutual fund industry, and write a business plan for Bridgeway.
Richard P. Cancelmo, Jr. manages the Balanced Fund and leads the equity trading team for Bridgeway. He has over 25 years of investment industry experience, including five years with Cancelmo Capital Management and The West University Fund. Dick worked previously for Paine Webber and Rotan Mosle in Houston, and for Casella Securities on the Options Floor at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. Dick holds a BA in American History from Washington and Lee University. He is an active member of Rotary International and W&L Shepherd Poverty Program Advisory Board. Dick joined Bridgeway in 2000.
Elena Khoziaeva, CFA, began working at Bridgeway in 1998 in customer service, operations, and accounting. Upon completion of her MBA in 1999, she began working in investment management research and analysis. Her responsibilities have included quantitative investment management research and analysis, quantitative model operation and maintenance, and portfolio construction for the Adviser. Elena earned a Bachelor of Economic Sciences from Belarussian State Economic University in Minsk and graduated with highest honors from the University of Houston with an MBA in Accounting. Elena became a CFA charterholder in 2006. Russian and math are her first languages.
Michael Whipple, CFA, CPA, began working for the Adviser in 2002, after earning an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. His responsibilities have included quantitative investment management research and analysis, quantitative model operation and maintenance, and portfolio construction for the Adviser. He holds a BS in Accountancy and Finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Michael is also a Certified Public Accountant, and gained seven years experience in public accounting before attending graduate school. After joining the Adviser, Michael became a CFA charterholder in 2003.
Rasool Shaik, CFA, began working for the Adviser in 2006 after earning an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. His responsibilities have included quantitative investment management research and analysis, quantitative model operation and maintenance, and portfolio construction for the Adviser. He holds a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India and an MS in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan. Prior to business school, Rasool developed software algorithms to manage complex supply chains for seven years. Rasool became a CFA charterholder in 2008.
Carey Peek began working at Bridgeway in 2005. Her role has been primarily supportive and includes research, analysis, and model maintenance. In addition, Carey is responsible for monitoring data quality and “stoking” the models with data. Carey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in 2003 with a major in economics and communications studies. Before joining Bridgeway, Carey worked two years for Teach For America. Carey is currently pursuing her MBA at Harvard Business School.
Christine Liang, CPA, began working at Bridgeway in 2008. Her role includes research, analysis, and model maintenance. Christine holds a MS in Accounting from the University of Virginia and BA in Sociology and Managerial Studies from Rice University. Christine is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Texas. Prior to joining Bridgeway, Christine worked in public accounting with a focus on energy trading and risk management. Christine is a Level II candidate in the CFA program.
